Files Naming

This diagram explains visually the logic behind the files naming adopted.

The files naming permits the fast identification of the graphics; the names are based on the original numbering of the plates and the drawings.

The names are divided in three groups of numbers and letters:
-. The first group corresponds to the plate number (in the book they appear in Roman number.
-. The second group corresponds to the drawing number in the specified plate.
-. The third group has been added by us;
the first letter (or letter and number) identify the type of graphic, ex. b=border, c=corner, t=tile, s=side, etc. Sometime you will find a small number following the first letter, ex. c1, c2, c3, etc. it means that in this specific design there are different variations of the corner.
The following letters of the last group define the attributes of the graphic, ex. l=large, m=medium, sm=small, etc.

In the EPS format there are also files with 2 zeros in the third group = 00, in those special files all the graphics related to one design are in the same page. This is convenient when using a vector based graphic application like Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Freehand, Corel Draw, etc. because there is no need to open multiple files to collect all the elements needed (corner, sides, centers, etc.).

This organization of the naming is particularly useful if a copy of the book or a reprint is on hand.

this is an example of a file name ending with "00", only available in the EPS format.
